A instalação Oxigênio constitui a ocupação de aproximadamente 1/3 do espaço expositivo com uma enorme quantidade de areia, em torno de 35 m3. Fui selecionado pelo Edital de Artes Visuais de Recife - 2015 num processo turbulento que afetou e ainda afeta boa parte dos artistas contemplados, pelo atraso ou total falta de pagamentos e previsão de datas e espaços para realizar as exposições.
A areia de Oxigênio é acompanhada de um texto de minha autoria, abrindo-se para a interação com o público; por um momento, podemos (re) lembrar que a aparente fragilidade desse material (areia) está contida também, na verdade, em nossas próprias mãos. Para fazermos o que quisermos com isso. Um teto e paredes de concreto escoram uma hipótese de refúgio para essa praia deslocada, ressoando o olhar em nossa direção. Espaços institucionais de arte e cultura, além dos próprios artistas, têm sofrido, nos últimos tempos, uma série de desmontes, restrições e ataques; o esvaziamento da arena da cultura, calando vozes, não está apenas nas mãos dos outros.
O texto, aplicado na parede do espaço em adesivo, diz o seguinte:
"Às vezes, numa música ou num castelo, as bases que sustentam de pé essas composições são continuamente pressionadas para que possamos reconstruí-las. Essas forças, vindas de fora, nos atingem e chamam a responder, até que a próxima onda recarregue nossas mãos. Vem e vão, vem...Ondas que se transformam em redemoinhos trocam possibilidade por necessidade. Cabe a nós encontrar refúgio no verso de dentro, do nosso dentro".
Convido todos a participarem da ocupação e vivência desse lugar, inclusive os demais artistas que sofreram na pele os descaminhos do mencionado Edital. A instalação segue até o final da exposição, onde o existirá, à disposição, um espaço para sentir a respiração.
Os "Outros Trabalhos", conjunto que engloba parte da minha produção de 2013 até o presente, dialoga com a instalação Oxigênio como vizinhança possível a todo e qualquer processo de reconfiguração do olhar.
The installation Oxygen constitutes the occupation of approximately 1/3 of the exhibition space with an enormous amount of sand, around 35 m3. I was selected by the Visual Arts Open Call of the city of Recife - 2015, a turbulent process that affected and still affects most of the artists contemplated, for delay or total lack of payments and forecast of dates and spaces to hold the exhibitions. The sand presented at Oxygen is accompanied by a piece of text of my own, opening to the interaction with the public; for a moment, we can (re) remember that the apparent fragility of that material (sand) is, indeed, contained in our hands. To do whatever we want with it. A ceiling and concrete walls prop up an hypothesis of refuge for that displaced beach, resounding in our direction. Institutional spaces of art and culture, in addition to the artists themselves, have suffered, in recent times, a series of dismounts, restrictions and attacks; the emptying of the arena of culture, silencing voices, is not only in the hands of others. The text, applied on the wall in adhesive, reads as follows: "Sometimes, in a song or in a castle, the bases that sustain these compositions are continually pressed so that we can rebuild them. Those forces, coming from outside, reach us and call to answer until the next wave recharges our hands. It comes and goes, comes again ... Waves that turn into swirls replace possibility by necessity. It is up to us to find refuge on the verse's content, our inner content." I invite everyone to participate in the occupation and experience of this place, including the other artists who have suffered in their skin the misconduct of the aforementioned Public Notice. The installation continues until the end of the exhibition, where there will be, at the disposal, a space to feel the breath.
"Other Works", which encompasses part of my production from 2013 to the present, dialogues with Oxygen installation as a possible proximity for any and all reconfiguration process of ways of seeing.
